Present the undersigned
Resolved [From this point a different hand] That the finances of this company having obtained a closer investigation it appears that the utmost attention must be paid to this department, & in order that sales may be effected on such terms as to meet the engagements & current expences to which we are inevitably liable —- it is recommended that all the sales of materials & engines contracted for with any purchasers may have a special reference to our pecuniary wants so as to bring back the capital timely to meet all our contingencies; & in order to carry this into effect it is suggested to our Robert Stephenson that he give himself & this company sufficient opportunity for a due consideration of our resources & ability as to time of fulfilling our orders so that he give & receive proposals conditionally subject to such [????] as may arise from a correspondence with this factory.
