prospectus before named it appearing probable that it may ere long be convenient to divide £5000 it is left with E. J. Cook to remit the sum by the end of June or earlier if he find it convenient.
On considering the very advanced age of Mr Surtees supposed to be near 80, that to ensure his life the premium would be so very heavy, It is resolved that no insurance be effected thereon but so soon as any one life drops care be taken immediately to replace it.
Robert Stephenson having proposed to transfer two tenths of his share in this concern to his father, the same having been tendered to Michl Longridge and Edwd Pease, and they having been refused by them, the transfer is considered to be now satisfied.
Robt Stephenson having stated that he has some improvements in Locomotives in view which he apprehends it would be to the advantage of this concern to take out a patent for, he is encourage to effect the same in his own name on our behalf.

At a meeting of the partners of the firm of Robert Stephenson & Co held at their Factory in South Street, Newcastle upon Tyne this 4th day of March 1842. Present the undersigned.
The Balance sheet for the Year ending 31st Decr 1841 was exhibited, from which it appeared that the profits made that Year amount to £13682. 19. 4½ _
The Order Book was examined and the orders on hand for Locomotive Engines found to be 42 in number
The Bankers Book was examined and the Balance in Bankers hands in Cash & Bills was on the 1st Instant £3241. 3. 7
Resolved, that the partners Account Current shall be credited in their respective proportions £12500, and that a dividend shall be made on 30th June of £6250 _ on 30th Sept of £3125, and 31st Decr of £3125 _ provided the finances of the company will conveniently admit of it _
Resolved, that a gratuity of £50 be presented to Edwd J. Cook
