Glass plate negatives taken by Edgar Tarry Adams or by his children Francis Norris Adams, Isabel Mary Adams or Pauline Adams.
Edgar had a keen interest in boats and nautical equipment which is reflected in the large amount of negatives containing images of sailing boats, rowing boats, ships, ship building sheds and nautical equipment. Many of the images also include members of the Adams family with some taken at their homes at The Cottage, Halstead, or at The Bungalow, Deal.
Other images include various people (shooting parties, beach scenes, parades, garden parties, ice skating etc) and street scenes, as well as buildings, trains, animals, landscapes and a small amount of people in Navy, Cadet or Military uniform.
This series of negatives is currently only partially catalogued. Please contact us at research@scienceandmediamuseum.org.uk for more information about accessing the full extent of these negatives.
