A glass photographic negative entitled 'Departure of Adams Family for Deal. Special Train At Halstead Station', taken by Edgar Tarry Adams in June 1898. The photograph shows members of the Adams family about to board their chartered train to travel from Halstead to Deal in Kent
In 1893, Adams purchased land on the sea-front at Deal and employed a builder to build a large house. The family already had their main house at Halstead but travelled by this chartered train between the two.
