A glass photographic negative entitled 'Blowing Hard NE At Deal: Pauline On The Beach', taken by Edgar Tarry Adams in September 1902. The photograph shows Adams' daughter, Pauline Adams (1889-1969), stood in a strong wind on the beach at Deal in Kent.

In 1893, Adams purchased land on the sea front at Deal and employed a builder to build a large house. The family already had their main house at Halstead but travelled by chartered train between the two
