Wm. Barkley in London met him and Copeland.
Writing letters at Office St. John’s Wood – called upon Creed in Cornhill.

Tuesday, July 1, 1834
Gave Evidence against Western Railway – very reluctantly for Commissioner of Metropolis Roads – at St. John’s Wood.

Wednesday 2
At Board Cornhill described Tring Cutting and attendant difficulties to the Board – at House of Lords – heard Merryweather Summary of Southampton [illegible] – A horrid bad case.

Thursday, July 3, 1834
At St. John’s Wood – concluded drawings for Birmingham 4 Contracts writing numerous letters – at office late in the evening.

Friday 4
Left for Birmingham with Mr. Gooch, Mr. Phipps Mr. Brunton and the plans for Contracts 1 2 3 & 4.

Saturday 5
At Birmingham laid plans before Directors – The Comparative Estimate of Viaduct over Rea Valley Long Viaduct approved – Estimate delivered subject to correction.

Sunday 6
Walked along the Birmingham Canal - much pleased with Mr. Telford’s Bridges.
