Accompanied by Mr. Smith the Contractor.
Considered from his remark that he knew nothing of what he was going to undertake.

At St. John’s Wood writing letters & specifications of the Bliswworth Bridges - Mr. M. Phipps.

Wednesday 12
At Cornhill – gave my opinion of Mr. Smith’s capability of executing Contract No. 1B.
He had advanced upon his former price 15000£ this above was fatal independent of him in consenting.

At St. John’s Wood wrote several letters – designed a little Bridge for Mr. Calvert.
Wrote to Capt. Moorson respecting Paris.

Friday 14
St. John’s Wood specification of Blisworth Bridges – Down the Tunnel Primson hill - with Mr. Creed & Mr. Parker.
Wrote to the Vulcan Works.

Saturday 15
Thornton’s Brockhall specification – attended at old Humm[illegible] – to see Mr. Barker, Mr. Thornton & Mr. Reeve. [illegible] generally Jackson & Sheddon’s valuation – saw Creed with Mr. Parker inspecting the honouring of Jackson’s Bill.

Sunday 16
At Hampstead Church – first Sunday open after repairing Bishop of London preached.
