Handwritten letter of condolence from Edgar Worthington, engineer and secretary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, to “Mr Joy” regarding the death of his father, David Joy. The addressee is almost certainly Basil H. Joy, eldest son of David Joy and technical secretary to the Automobile Club.
Worthington expresses sympathy and recalls working with David Joy some twenty years earlier, including shared professional experiences and Joy’s conduct at the Master Mechanics of America Congress at Niagara. He reflects on Joy’s public life, personal character, and their later reminiscences, and sends kind regards to Mrs Joy.
