Each diagram records pressure curves under different operating conditions, with accompanying notes specifying boiler pressure, speed, gradient, and cutoff settings. The lower right‑hand corner carries the endorsement: “Diagrams taken from 18 inch cyl. Goods Engine – Scale 48 lbs per inch. July 27th 1880.” The document bears a partially visible circular stamp from Crewe Works — the headquarters of the London and North Western Railway — and an additional oval red stamp in the lower left‑hand corner reading “Please [Address] – 112 Fenchurch Street London.” A central portion of the sheet has been deliberately cut out, and the sheet is torn horizontally into two pieces.
