Locomotive indicator diagrams from 18‑inch cylinder goods engine

Single working sheet bearing four hand‑drawn indicator diagrams taken from an 18‑inch cylinder goods engine. Each diagram records pressure curves under different operating conditions, with accompanying notes specifying boiler pressure, speed, gradient, and cutoff settings. The lower right‑hand corner carries the endorsement: “Diagrams taken from 18 inch cyl. Goods Engine – Scale 48 lbs per inch. July 27th 1880.” The document bears a partially visible circular stamp from Crewe Works — the headquarters of the London and North Western Railway — and an additional oval red stamp in the lower left‑hand corner reading “Please [Address] – 112 Fenchurch Street London.” A central portion of the sheet has been deliberately cut out, and the sheet is torn horizontally into two pieces. The reverse is blank.
