Photograph album compiled by David Joy
A bound album containing 44 pages of mounted photographs showing a range of engineering subjects associated with David Joy’s professional work. The images include marine engines, ship machinery, static steam engines, armaments, Joy’s organ blower for Leeds Town Hall, Joy’s patent steam hammers (2, 20 and 50 cwt), and Joy’s 60 HP overhead engine for a cargo vessel. Several photographs depict exhibits displayed at the 1862 International Exhibition in London. The album reflects Joy’s documentation of his engineering output and contemporary industrial practice during the mid‑ to late‑nineteenth century.
