A 11.5 x 9.7 inch, black and white print taken by Peter Hewitt, on behalf of Richard, Thomas and Baldwins Ltd, showing the entrance to a pilot tunnel, located on the beach at Folkestone Warren near a railway goods yard. Bill Arnold, a British Railways employee, is seen about to enter the tunnel to check for signs of subsidence. This image appears in the picture story “Trade Route Under the Channel,” September 1958 issue, p. 12.
The print has a yellow job sticker on the reverse with the following details: Job: INGOT p12, Screen: 120, Height: 7 1/2, Width: 4 11/16. Pencil marks on the reverse indicate where the photograph should be cropped for publication
