Images taken by Peter Hewitt, on behalf of Richard, Thomas & Baldwins Ltd, for the September 1958 issue of INGOT magazine. The images were taken for the picture story “The Frodingham Ironstone” by Philip Nunan, pp. 13-17. The article explores how the ironstone of Scunthorpe came to be laid down millions of years ago and the obstacles to be overcome in mining it today.
