Original folder with annotation 'Trip to China 1980' containing notes, correspondence, travel documents and receipts in reference to Kenneth Cantlie's trip to China in September 1980 accompanied by Dr J.E. Sharpe of Queen Mary College, University of London and Mr P. B. Caplin, the technical director of Energy Equipment Company. The purpose of the trip was to 'visit the Ministry of Railways for an exchange of technical views' and it was partially paid by the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Chinese Ministry of Railways. Notes include answers by Caplin and Sharpe to proposed questions by the Ministry of Railways relating to water tube boilers and steam turbo compressors. Destinations include Hong Kong, Peking, Shanghai, Kowloon and Canton.
