A file of correspondence with mainly Roderick G. Morris, mechanical engineer whose work involved Chinese railways. Contains an envelope with correspondence and proposition of a 'steam turbo-electric locomotive' by Morris for the Southern Railway from 1938, including a general drawing proposition for a 4-8-4 locomotive, Canton-Hankow Railway 1933 by Morris. Later correspondence with Morris contains information on Cantlie family members and dealings with Zhou Enlai and Mao; a letter from Lord Greenhill of Harrow 1982 thanking Cantlie for receiving a copy of 'Railways of China'. The original file has a label 'Steam turbine loco. Morrison 1938-1981'. See CANT/1/36 for locomotive design and construction in 1930s, Shanghai, Morrison thanking Cantlie for help; see CANT/1/21 hand-written letters from Rody (Roderick Morrison) regarding locomotive 4-8-4's journey to York and a book on the locomotive in the 1980s.
