Contains several versions of curriculum vitae, professional profiles and letters to organisations such as the Ministry of Labour and National Service, Colonial Office, Crown Agents on Ceylon Govt Railways, Locomotive Manufacturers' Association (1930s), Assam Oil Company, United Nations Technical Assistance Recruitment Office, Iron and Steen Corporation of Great Britain, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Rendel, Palmer and Tritton Consulting Engineers, London and North Eastern Railway, Department of Overseas Trade, London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company (re. 'training Chinese technical men in England', 1937) and others. Individuals include Lord Riverdale, Sir Frederick Leith-Ross, Lawrence Kadoorie (1938), etc. The documents show how Cantlie described his experience, skills and interests in different periods of his career and contain analysis of railways and administrations in different countries such as China, India and Argentine.
