File containing letters from Phyllis Cantlie to her husband Kenneth Cantlie during the war in the 1940s from The Rhosser house in Llandyssil, Wales. Phyllis spent two years in the house with the boys Hugh, Paul and Bruce while Kenneth was serving in the army. They were accompanied by the Chinese servants, Mr. Chang and his wife and their two children. Phyllis had to move the family out of their house in Battle within 48 hours and move to Wales when the authorities claimed that their Chinese servants were suspicious aliens and were in danger of being detained. The letters outline family's everyday life, activities of boys, Phyllis' work on the garden and engaging with the local community. They give an insight of the life of the family during the war and the warm relationship between Phyllis and Kenneth.
