Newspaper extracts relating to the Lancaster to Beattock railway express and to proceedings of the Lancaster & Preston Junction Railway. One extract provides a memorandum of the time kept by Mr W. Smith while travelling on the Lancaster to Beattock express on 26 November 1847, noting that “Mr Worthington drove from Lancaster to Carlisle.” The other two extracts report a special meeting of the proprietors of the Lancaster & Preston Junction Railway concerning their lease to the Lancaster Canal Company. One is taken from the Railway Chronicle.
