‘Travelling by the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, 1836’ timetable

Early Liverpool & Manchester Railway timetable titled Travelling by the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, 1836, pasted onto a thick oak board. Gives times of departure from Lime Street Station, Liverpool, and from Liverpool Road Station, Manchester, with destinations including Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, St Helen’s and Runcorn Gap. Details of fares are also provided. The timetable is numbered 245.

Two newspaper cuttings are affixed to the reverse of the board: an excerpt from the Sotheby’s catalogue dated 28 July 1904 describing the item, and an extract from the Manchester Courier dated 29 July 1904 reporting on its sale at Sotheby’s that afternoon.
