Copy letter from J. E. Errington to S. E. Bolden, Secretary to the Lancaster & Carlisle Railway Company, acknowledging receipt of the minutes of the Lancaster & Carlisle Board’s Locomotive Committee of 6 November 1855 concerning the proposed change in the mode of obtaining locomotive service for the line. Errington advises that the Locomotive Committee will only be able to secure a sufficient supply of good‑quality stock by claiming a proportion of the London & North Western Railway stock already in use on the Lancaster & Carlisle Railway. He recommends that the engines and other stock currently working the line be classified and valued as soon as possible.
