Enclosing a copy of a poem by Thomas Hawksley entitled ‘The History of a Bank Holiday (Air, “The Bailiff’s Daughter of Islington”)’. Fitzmaurice explains that the poem is an extract from ‘The City Lantern’ of the 9th January 1880 and that the original is in the archives of the Smeatonian Society.
