Album containing approximately 80 carte‑de‑visite photographs, 16 full‑plate photographs and four small drawings. In addition to portraits of relatives, family connections and friends, the album includes photographs of landscapes, buildings and several railway locomotives. Also present are composite portrait prints depicting groups of eminent individuals, including Charles Darwin, Michael Faraday, Charles Wheatstone, John Tyndall and Charles Dickens.

The album contains photographs of the Britannia Bridge, the Menai Straits, and several Manchester street scenes, reflecting the city where Samuel Barton Worthington’s father, Thomas, had a warehouse and where the family grew up.

Loose items found inside the back cover:

– hand‑cut silhouette profile portrait of “W. L. B.” (Putney Fair, 30 June 1846);

– hand‑cut silhouette of an unidentified gentleman in a top hat (“cut by Master Hubard, aged 13 years”);
