Letter from Joseph Locke requesting that S. B. Worthington examine the condition of the Lancaster & Preston Railway line. Locke encloses a “string of defects said to exist on the Lancaster & Preston line” (not included with the item) and asks Worthington to walk carefully over the line and report his opinion of its state. A postscript notes that Mr Gregson’s assistant will call upon Worthington to ascertain the day on which he intends to inspect the line, so that he may accompany him.
