Handwritten account of a walking holiday in Lancashire and Cumbria undertaken by William Barton Worthington (aged 23) and his brothers Edgar Worthington (aged 21¼) and Arthur H. Worthington (aged 17½). The walk took place between 8 August and 17 August 1877, with a further entry dated 21 September 1877 “to complete the record.”
Entries by all three brothers are written in the form of letters addressed “Dear people” or “Dear all,” describing the daily events of their journey. The text is interspersed with occasional pen‑and‑ink sketches depicting scenery and places of interest encountered along the route.
