Handwritten account of a walking holiday in Lancashire and Cumbria by William Barton Worthington (aged 23) and his brothers Edgar Worthington (aged 21¼) and Arthur H. Worthington (aged 17½). The walk took place between 8th August 1877 and 17th August 1877 but includes one further entry dated 21st September 1877 “to complete the record.” The entries, by all three brothers, are written in the form of letters addressed “Dear people” or “Dear all” and detail the daily events of their walking holiday. The text is punctuated by occasional pen and ink sketches of some of the scenery and places of interest the brothers witnessed along the way.
