Information on the forming of the South Kensington Museum. The first section is part of 'a memorandum [which] was submitted to the Rt. Hon. J. W. Henley, the President of the Board Trade, and approved by him, from which the following extract is made, which shows that the express object from the very beginning of the Department of Science and Art was to form Collections of Fine Art applied to Industry for Technical Instruction'. Contains sections on Elementary Instruction, Higher Instruction in Ornamental Art, Practical Improvement of Manufactures.
