Booklet detailing the distribution of prizes and certificates for the Liverpool Science and Arts Classes, presented by Sir James A. Picton on December 3rd 1881 in the Lecture Hall of the Free Public Library. Details members of the committee, a summary of the results, prize results including Queen's prizes, Full Certificates in Drawing, Advanced Certificates in Science, Successes in Art Classes. Includes 1 page insert, a report on the session 1880-81, folded and attached to the front cover with a metal pin. In the insert, science classes are deemed a success but it is noted that art class results 'were not so satisfactory' as a 'decrease took place both in the number of entries and successes'. Technical subjects were to be introduced. It is also noted that Mr James Samuelson gave the Committee £30 for prizes for Technical Classes, in order to encourage them: '[b]y such Classes it is hoped to make Science teaching of still greater value, and to assist in the systematic training of Artizans and others in the scientific and practical details of their several trades and occupations'. Annotated 'No 2' in pen at top of front cover (compare to [RCTI/1/3/22] and [RCTI/1/3/24] which are annotated 'No 1' and 'No 3' respectively, in the same hand).
