Twenty-fourth annual report and distribution of prizes by the Countess of Crawford

A report on the Annual Meeting November 4th, 1881, where the activities of the school and events of the year were outlined, and at which prizes were distributed. At the meeting a speech by Alfred Hewlett encourages those in attendance to study geology and the construction of mines in light of the recently published Royal Commission on Accidents in Mines, he also expresses skepticism at the likelihood of electricity and the electric light superseding gas and gaslighting. Lord Crawford's speech is also recapitulated. Printed in Wigan by Wall ("Observer" Office, Wallgate) in 1881.
