Report by Robert Calder, M.A., H.M. Inspector of Schools, of an inspection of The Buchanan Institution, undertaken 31st March to 1st April 1882. Details student numbers, test results, descriptions of the work performed in the different 'Standards'. Includes section on the industrial training the school offered, including tailoring and carpentry. Calder writes that 'the general arrangement of the classes seems in every respect a satisfactory one; the demeanour of the boys is frank, but respectful' and that the 'classes are skilfully handled'.
