Report of the 12th annual meeting of the Burslem and Tunstall School of Science and Art, part of the Wedgewood Institute, held at Burslem Town Hall on 13 October 1881, includes a long essay-address given by William Morris where he talks about the subject of pottery, how art crosses ethnic and religious divides, advocates "art over dirt", about the future "I believe machines can do everything-except make works of art", "To sum up, don't let yourselves be made machines, or it is all up with you as artists", and acknowledges his own privileged position when he catches himself reacting to "ruffianism" overheard passing his window. Printed in Burslem by Warwick Savage. Bears the 1881 RCTI stamp.
