Annual report of the Artizans' Institute, given by the Principal, Rev. Henry Solly, covering a variety of subjects. The Artizans' Institute was located at 29, Castle St., Upper St. Martin's Lane. Delivered by Solly at the Annual Meeting, held on June 2nd 1877, at the rooms of the Society of Arts. Mentions prizes and certificates given to students who went into the South Kensington examinations. Solly mentions attending a meeting in Bristol, 'called by the Bristol Trades' Council' where he 'communicated my wish of addressing representatives of the British Trade Societies, on the subject of technical and general education for adult workmen' (p.4). Solly also mentions his visit to North Germany, where he 'obtained a good deal of interesting information respecting the Technical Trade Schools of Bremen' (p.6). Mentions classes given by the Institute, including the very successful 'Bricklayers' Technical Class'. Appendix lists lectures and discussions given by the Institute.
