System of Arrangement:
Show
Original order has been maintained throughout the collection to respect the original filing system of Campaign for Better Transport. Materials were organised by the record creators and custodians at Campaign for Better Transport first by project, then by initiative. This is documented in a note (CFBT/1/10), suggesting that this system of arrangement may have changed over time subject to the custodians responsible for the archive at a given time. Filing sheets were used to organise materials. These sheets included information on region, campaign, campaign subject, and type of physical material. These filing sheets have been retained and have informed the intellectual arrangement. Hierarchy reflects the system of arrangement by project at series and file level, reflecting cover sheets that were used to identify project area for a particular campaign or organisational event. Much of the collection had been organised into brown envelopes at point of deposit. These envelopes were labelled with the theme and organisational activity of the contained materials. The arrangement within the envelopes has been retained, in addition to the labels of the original envelopes.
