Papers relating to the Transport and Health Study Group
One file is comprised of five bundles of printed and published materials relating to the Transport and Health Study Group (THSG) initiated by Transport 2000 to examine the health effects of traffic. Bundle one contains a printed agenda from the seminars 'Community care or community severance', 'Traffic Pollution and Health', and 'Cycling and Health Gain', administrative papers on attendance and fee payments, printed mailing list of attendees, printed list of seminars, printed seminar abstracts, printed flyers and letter invitations, and printed and manuscript drafts of a questionnaire on health and traffic (1991-1994). Bundle two contains printed flyers for Transport and Health Study Group conferences (1989-1994); letters produced by the British Medical Journal and an information briefing and articles produced by Lynn Sloman on behalf of Transport 2000 discussing the creation of a transport and health journal (1993-1994); printed and annotated press releases produced by the Transport and Health Study Group relating to reports on health, relevance of the group, conferences, and strategic aims of the study group (1989-1992); and letters written by Lynn Sloman to Philip Hunt of the National Association of Health Authorities and Trusts (NAHAT), draft and final printed consultation response the physical activity task force regarding the consultation paper 'More People More Active More Often' written by Bill Tuxworth and Judith Hanna and edited by the Transport Health Study Group Executive (1991-1994). Bundle three contains press releases, a letter from Susan Hoyle of Transport 2000 to Norman Fowler, Secretary of State for Health and Social Services, stapled report 'Preventing Pedestrian Casualties', stapled publication 'Health on the Move', briefing papers, stapled survey report, and photocopied articles relating to the study group, policy changes, and core activities of the study group (1984-1992). Bundle four contains one leaflet announcing the publication of 'Health on the Move' and typed and printed administrative papers including minutes and notes from study group meetings and conferences, agendas, marketing strategies, work plans, constitution, and further typed strategic documents, produced by the Transport and Health Study Group of which Transport 2000 was a member (1989-1994). Bundle five contains one printed bound publication by Barbara Preston "Cutting Pedestrian Casualties" (1992).
