Papers relating to campaigning against the Salisbury bypass on the A36
File is comprised of two bundles of papers detailing the Salisbury bypass campaign, used as background research for Transport 2000 roads campaigning. Bundle one contains reports, case studies, inquiry reviews, press releases, press cuttings, letters, and seven 35mm slides produced by Keith Buchan, Highways Agency, Labour Party, Earth Rights Solicitors, Salisbury Bypass Action Group, Department of the Environment, the Salisbury Alliance, Transport 2000, and others (1991-2002), relating to demand management in Wiltshire, bypass alternatives for Salisbury, cancellation of the road widening scheme, and campaign tactics. Bundle two contains research reports, letters, typed objections, consultation responses, newsletter, and briefing and agenda papers produced by Salisbury Transport 2000, Metropolitan Transport Research Unit, Wiltshire County Council, and others (1996-2002), which discuss the outlook of the Salisbury bypass on the A36 as a Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) project, objection to the Brunel link and Harnham relief road proposals, integrated transport policy consultation response, shadow toll roads, and the A36 corridor alliance.
