Five draft and final reports and bound booklets detailing various engineering and technical aspects of rail transport, including "Diesel Locomotive Idling Report" (2001); "Main Line Electrification"; "Striking a spark" produced by Mick Hamer (1976); "Review of railway electrification" by House of Commons (1982); "Railway electrification" produced by National Union of Railwaymen (1982); and letters from Department of Transport (1982) relating to electrification of railway lines.
Two bundles of reports on rural railways including one bound report by Paul Salveson "What Use are Rural Railways?" (1997); two spiral-bound extended reports "What use are rural railways?" with detailed tables on rural railways (1997), "Branching Out. Railways for Rural Communities" (2000). Materials are appended with letters produced by Transnet, Countryside Agency, and others; strategy and proposal papers; meeting minutes; and letters produced by Stephen Joseph of Transport 2000 and the Rural Development Commission and discuss rural railways, access to rail stations and lines, closures and reopenings, and its benefits for communities, economy and the environment (1994-2000).
