One file contains two bundles of administrative records for the Better Rail Campaign and Save Our Railways, produced by both campaigns, Union Communications, and the Railway Development Society, and one letter produced by the National Union of Railwaymen (1987-1997). Bundle one contains policy documents "Moving Save Our Railways Forward", "Summary of the Government's White Paper on Rail Privatisation", "Save Our Railways Progress Report", "The Fight Against Privatisation- The Fight So Far", "Campaign for a Better Railway. A Public Relations programme based upon the North Eastern Railway Association (NERA) report to the National Union of Railwaymen", and other policy and strategic documents and discussion papers outlining union collaborations, collaboration of Save Our Railways and the Better Rail Campaign with government, the formation of Save Our Railways and its accounts, progress reports, and budgets. Bundle two contains strategic documents including "Save Our Railways relaunch: Stop and think again on rail privatisation", "A Strategy to Prevent the Break-up of the Railways", and "Towards the General Election", and typed documents relating to collaboration with other groups including Transport Salaried Staffs' Association and the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union, and cooperation with Transport 2000's Platform campaign.
