The sub-series comprises of files containing correspondence, publications both produced and collected by Transport 2000, drafts, press releases, press cuttings and other material relating to the activities of Transport 2000 on railways, from financing and investing in railways and freight on rail to technical aspects of rail including carbon emissions and electrification, to policy changes including the Serpell report, Railways Bill 1990, Transport Act 1978, Merseyside Bill, Beeching report, integrated transport plan, ten-year plan, privatisation and franchising, on to passenger experiences including ticketing, overcrowding, rail line and station closures, and timetables. Documents relate to campaigning, research, and consultation on these and other related topics.

Documents largely respect the original order of the boxes acquired in 2018. For Platform, Growing the Railways, and general rail campaigning, physical arrangement is retained to reflect the interlinking of these initiatives.
