The sub-series contains three boxes of materials comprising of documents, reports, photographs, and one CD relating to the work of Transport 2000/Campaign for Better Transport on buses and trams in the period 1979-2012, including issues relating to deregulation of bus services, subsidised bus services, ticketing, integrated ticketing, access, safety, school bus safety, staff shortages, bus service quality, door-to-door public transport, disability and public transport usage, public transport usage for older people, car free tourism, concessionary coach schemes, and taxis and minicabs.
Contains evidence of attempts to shape bus and tram policy, from consultation responses to correspondence with policymakers at Department for Transport (DfT) and Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) on policy changes including the Buses White Paper 1984, Transport Act 1985, and Local Transport Act 2008, as well as attempts to develop tram infrastructure in the United Kingdom (e.g. the Leeds Supertram). Contains news cuttings and photographs of national and international bus and tram lines, and evidence gathered from newspapers and local groups. Contains minutes, agenda papers, strategy papers, correspondence, and leaflets/reports from working groups. Contains reports and books on participation in public transport plans, bus subsidies, and rural buses. Contains committee meeting minutes, information sheets, survey templates, funding reports, research reports, and progress reports on Buswatch, the passenger watchdog campaign to highlight bus quality issues.
