Papers relating to government roads reviews
One file is comprised of four bundles of printed materials produced by members and affiliates of Transport 2000 and government officials (1990-2003), which contain the following: strategy papers and press releases produced by Transport 2000 on a government roads review (1990-1993); printed draft statement and documents relating to a roads review conference (1997); press releases produced by the Department of the Environment, Transport, and the Regions; correspondence produced by Ben Webster, John Whitelegg, Stephen Joseph, T E Worsley, Matthew Elson, Aemer Lodhi, and others; roads ahead map produced by the Highways Agency; and letters, objectives, draft memorandum, and terms of reference produced by Stephen Joseph, Stephen Price, Lilli Matson, and others (1997), which discuss the place of trunk roads in roads review strategy, environmental effects of road improvements schemes, the split of Department for Transport and the Department of Transport, the separation of planning and transport, roads review case studies, and alternative appraisal methods for roads reviews.
