Group of assorted letters, articles, briefing sheets, press releases, and other printed materials on English road and bridge works

File is comprised of seven bundles of printed materials produced by Transport 2000, Department for Transport, and South Coast Against Road-Building.

Bundles one and two contain correspondence, press releases, and press cuttings (1999-2014) that discuss the development and maintenance of roads, strategic roads reform, Westbury Bypass, and other topics.

Bundle three contains letters, articles, and printed documents produced by John Stewart, Stephen Joseph, Denise Carlo, and South Coast against Roadbuilding relating to road works at Twyford Down, building the A64 Copmanthorpe Junction in North Yorkshire, re-launching the Salisbury Alliance, campaigning against the Salisbury Brunel link, objection to the planning application for a Westbury Eastern Bypass, Norwich inner ring road, a South Coast Superhighway, and other similar assorted topics relating to road building and campaigns against road building in England, 1993-2008.

Bundle four contains letters, one photograph, press releases and briefings, and other printed materials produced by Transport 2000, West Yorkshire Transport 2000, Greater London Council, Nick Lester, Anthony Rae, Virginia Bottomley, and relating to Gipsy Corner on the A40, Environmental Impact Assessments at Bingley, six photographs depicting demonstrations at Bingley and Transport 2000 press release on the Bingley relief road, the M25 Swanley and Sevenoaks link, and Hindhead, 1981-2001.

Bundle five contains printed materials including evidence to the public inquiry, an article from New Law Journal, and a High Court judgment summary produced by Patrick Purpoole, Midland Motorways Action Committee, High Court Justices, R M Newland, and others relating to legal actions on the purchasing of land for road building in England for the M40 and M42 and used as background in Transport 2000's road campaign activities, 1977-1979.

Bundle six contains reports produced by Campaign for Better Transport on the Mersey Gateway Bridge, letters relating to the South Bristol link, and a press release on the Department for Transport refusal of road budget in Stockport (2007-2011).

Bundle seven contains one press release produced by Transport 2000 on M11 widening (2007).
