One file comprises of six bundles of printed materials which discuss planned A66 development from Penrith to Scotch Corner and a safety study to examine the impact of this road development work. Bundle one contains four press releases produced by Transport 2000 and Department of Transport, one letter from Highways Agency, and one public inquiry document produced by the Secretary of State for Transport which discuss the A66 safety study, Penrith to Scotch Corner development along the A66, and Temple Sowerby development along the A66 (1994-2005). Bundle two, bundle three, and bundle four contain correspondence produced by Lord Whitty and others on behalf of Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Highways Agency, Maunsall Transport Planning, Transport 2000, Transport 2000 Trust, Transport Activists Roundtable, and others (1999-2002). Bundle three additionally contains the acknowledgement of an application for judicial review launched by Transport 2000 Limited. Bundle five contains the refusal document for an application for judicial review regarding the A66, correspondence with solicitors at Leigh, Day, and Co., roundtable responses, press releases, and other printed and typed documents relating to the A66 Penrith to Scotch Corner road development and judicial review, and the A66 Temple Sowerby Bypass (2002). Bundle six contains press cuttings, photocopied press cuttings, and press releases produced by Transport 2000 and the Council for National Parks on the threat of A66 widening or dualling to the Lake District National Park and reports on the Maunsell (sic) study and the impact of A66 dualling on rural communities (2001-2002).
