Letters from Francis Mewburn to Leonard Raisbeck

Leonard Raisbeck and Francis Mewburn were appointed joint solicitors of the company, representing Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington respectively. the two solictors often found themselves at odds with one another and these letters illustrate the strained relationship between the two men. They mostly relate to a Bill to be presented to Parliament on extensions to the railway, Mewburn discusses the likelihood of success and opposition from Lord Shaftesbury, and asks Raisbeck to circulate notices to the public.
