Dear Sir
Having lately got some Models prepared for the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway Company of an improved and more secure and durable method of fixing the Chairs to the Blocks and of jointing the Rails on Railways.
I will feel, obliged by your mentioning to the Committee of the Stockton & Darlington Railway Company my readiness to order them to be sent from the Railway Office in Newcastle where they now are to Darlington for inspection and that I will wait upon the Committee to explain their advantages if they desire it.
Whilst I was in Newcastle they were submitted to the close examination of Practical Workmen engaged in the Manufacture of Rails and Chairs, as well as

of the Directors at one of their Meetings and were considered to be a more simple and firm mode of fastening than any present used and calculated materially to diminish the expence of Keeping a Railway in repair.
I remain Dear Sir
Yours very truly
Rich’d Miles
