right again.Wilson was laid off poorly today. Took a set of diagrams of engines at Low Mill engine.
Sept 25. Fr. Wilson still off.
Sept 24. Took a set of diagrams of Low Mill engine.
Sept 25 Fr[iday]. Wilson laid off with diarrhoea. Had some trouble in raising steam before breakfast, owing to the coals running up the bars. At breakfast time we gave her 4 extra sq ft of grate, by taking off bricks, & gave bars a good cleaning, which put her all right. Took a set of diagrams off Railway Mill engine.
Sept 26. Sat[urday]. Went to station to see about coals being sent round. Saw a Mr Wilson & arranged it with him.

at Railway Mill. In the afternoon inspected the hydraulic governor, & went round the Mill inspecting looms. In the evening went to N[ew]castle. Called at Watsons & sat a bit.
27th Sunday. Called on Crow told him how badly doors had been fitted; learned from him that he approved my new arrangement of springs, that he had sent new spindles for doors, & wanted me to arrange a smoke preventing apparatus(,) for Annandale[’]s boilers.
Went to meeting, afterwards dined with Tom Whitwell then went over the works then down to Jane Corder[’]s at Shields.
