Material accumulated by Samuel Holmes
The series contains material that is evidence of Samuel Holmes’ business activities before and after he emigrated to America. He also receives correspondence from members of the Hackworth Family and further correspondence shows that he was involved the Timothy Hackworth exhibition at the World Columbian Exposition. There is also a letter from John Hennon Hackworth describing the Hackworth family’s bad luck. No letters sent from Robert Young to Samuel Holmes survive, although they did correspond extensively; see HACK 5/1.
