'One difficulty arises after another that I nearly [?] despair of our ever coming to the end of our troubles. Mr J.W. Hackworth refuses to sign the cheques until be have a detailed account of all monies received by Timothy…I must say that I never saw him in so tenacious a humour before let me pray of you to see this done & after all it is not an unreasonable request… I had a regular fight about the £3 added to Miss Prudence’s cheque but I ultimately conquered'. In docket 'R. Benson response John Wesley Hackworth wishing Timothy to produce a statement of his

accounts'.
