Dear Sir
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favour of the 29th inst. directing my attention to a very superior Locomotive Engine you are bringing out. I should have been glad to render you any service in my power in recommending the Board of the East Lancs Ry Co. to an examination of the improvements in your Locomotive but I am prevented doing so having been under the necessity of leaving the Directions in July last owing to the preprietors having determined in the half yearly meeting assembled to run Cheap trains on the Sunday to which I could not conscientiously give in my adherence.
I should recommend you to address Mr Thomas Wrigley of Timberhurst St. Bury who is the Director who attends most particularly to the Locomotive department on the E.L.Ry.
I enclose you Mr Pease’s testimonial as you may require it for further use.-
Sincerely wishing you success in your efforts to improve the Locomotive Engine.
Remain
Dear Sir. Yours very truly
John Robinson Kay
