Has spent the morning in New York trying to release Robert Young’s manuscript [of Timothy Hackworth and the locomotive], the office is only prepared to return it to Robert Young as it was addressed to Samuel Holmes who is now dead, sorry that neither her or Samuel Holmes could read it, ‘ if I could sleep I would be as well as expect to be. Next Tuesday I am going away for two weeks to the sea to try & get sleep & if possible fell more able to face life’.
