Declare that whilst being workmen of William Lister’s Hopetown Foundry, Darlington ‘we well remember Timothy Hackworth’s ‘Tory’ locomotive being brought off the Stockton and Darlington Railway’; dimensional drawings made under the direction of John Roseby, Lister’s foreman and three similar locomotive made ‘Ocean’, ‘Etherley’ and the ‘Middlesbro’ made using drawings; both men made patterns for the engines and assisted in building them. Signed and witnessed by Thomas W. Watson, Auctioneer, 11 Northumberland Street, Darlington and William C. Harrison, Clerk, Darlington.
