Mr Hunter
Sir;
According to your request I have made it my business to see Mr Backhouse he seemed to take it kind and I expected you would have been sent for – he has since sailed for America – moreover it is said that S[?] Cooper from Greenside is come to be resident. it is believed Mr Hall retains his situation and that Cooper is under him – we would have been glad to see you become a neighbour. Mr Surtees has advertised his colliery to let this of course you will not think worth your notice. \i have made mention of you in another quarter but as yet there is nothing open should any thing turn up I will write you immediately.
Yours respectfully
Timothy Hackworth
P.S. Have you speculated with the money you mentioned last time I saw you if you have not I could take it. write by return of Post please and say.
