Material accumulated by Esther Alderslade (nee Hackworth)

The series contains letters describing the transfer of ownership of the ‘Stephenson’ or 'Blast pipe letter' when Albert Hackworth, Esther’s brother died, from America to England. Letters are written by the current guardian of the letter Gertrude Holmes, widow of Samuel Holmes. One other letter describes Esther’s article on Timothy Hackworth in ‘my magazine’, which is also present in this series.
